The Archaeobotanical Laboratory is in charge of the identification and interpretation
of botanical materials recovered in archaeological research projects, approved by the
Archeology Council of the National Institute of Anthropology and History. This type of
work provides parallel data to archaeological projects when it is possible to recover
material of plant origin.
The organic remains that are collected in these places can be
useful in the reconstruction of palaeoenvironments, and to give a perspective about
how man has used the resources of his environment in past times.
The elements represented in its imagotype refer to the most outstanding materials
within this field.
